Ingredients

1 cup wheat flour

¼ cup butter or Indian ghee

2½-3 cups water

½ -¾ cup sugar or molasses

Almonds (sliced or whole) (optional)

Method

Heat the butter or ghee in a pan. Add the flour to the heated butter or ghee. Stir the flour on medium heat for ~20-25 minutes or until deep brown. Add water and keep stirring for ~10-15 minutes or until there is no water. The batter for the dessert is ready when it begins to separate the butter or ghee and does not stick to the pan. Finally, add sugar or molasses per taste and stir for another ~10 minutes or until all the water of the sugar / molasses evaporates and the butter or ghee separates. Garnish this with sliced or whole almonds and enjoy hot the Wheat Flour Dessert (Halwa).
